Nick Clegg Deputy PM

Nick Clegg the Deputy Prime Minister is the MP for Sheffield Hallam and agreed to meet David on Friday 23rd September at his office in Sheffield.

Nick was keen to learn about the reason for Christophers death and extended his condolences to the family.

He asked in depth questions to help him understand the causes and quickly made the connection between being immobile when travelling long haul and being immobile whilst gaming for an extended period of time.

We discussed the UK Governments initiative in launching the "Start Active - Stay Active" campaign in July this year, the campaign urges citizens to stay mobile identifying the risks of a sedentary lifestyle.

The campaign makes specific reference to Video Games.

Nick was positive in his support for the Take Time Out Campaign and has committed to writing to the following ministers.

Minister For Health
Chief Medical Officer
Minister For Culture

Nick Clegg has promised to open a case file and will be keeping David updated on the response and future activity.

Please ensure you are subscribed to the RSS feed to receive updates.

David thanks Nick Clegg for the positive and proactive way in which he has received the Take Time Out campaign in its bid to seek voluntary action from the gaming Industy, to take a positive step forward in providing safety advice to its customers.

It is hoped that through a positive approach by the gaming industry many millions of young people will become aware of the risk of Deep Vein thrombosis whilst continuing to enjoy gaming at its best.

Nick Clegg Response
by: David Staniforth

A letter has now been received from Andrew Lansley MP the secretary of state for health , I am pleased to report this is a positive response in support of the campaign Mr Lansley likens the similarity in our campaign to the airline industry and has copied details to Jeremy Hunt MP at the department for Culture, Media and Sport. he as also suggested that contact be made with Lifeblood demonstrating the strong connections which are already in place.
I would like to thank Nick Clegg for making this possible, and for the swift response I have received.
