Scouting Ireland

by David Staniforth
(Sheffield)

A very good friend of mine who gives up his own time to work with the Scouts has kindly arranged for an article to appear in this months newsletter.
The article draws attention to what happened to Christopher Staniforth and the online newsletter is circulated to no less than 45,000 scouts and their families in Ireland.
I would like thank David Kelly very much for this positive move and hope this brings awareness to young people in Ireland.
The message is to continue to enjoy gaming but remember to take a break move around and hydrate - remember high energy drinks contain lots of caffeine which causes dehydration, which along with lack of movement is a major contributor to DVT occurring.
We continue to request the gaming industry to integrate alerts into games to remind gamers to take a break after excessive time gaming.

David Staniforth.

Glad to help Spread Awareness in Ireland
by: David Kelly

David,

Having a 16 year old son myself who also plays a lot of online games on X-box and PS3 I too want to make sure that he and other teenagers are given the facts and made aware of the dangers of DVT.

I can't imagine what it must be like to lose one of your children and what you must have gone through with the death of Christopher.

While you can never turn back the clock , this website and awareness campaign if it saves even one life will be more than worthwhile.

Keep up the good work !

David Kelly
